Volunteer to Review AiC Award Applications

Support Aspiring Technologists!

NCWIT receives thousands of AiC award applications each year. Hundreds of volunteers are needed to identify outstanding, aspirational technologists by sharing their insight into the world of computing. Join our email list to volunteer now, and download this flyer to share the opportunity to volunteer with colleagues and peers!

Why Should I Volunteer?

Play a key role in recognizing and encouraging the next generation of technologists and their mentors!

Aspirations in Computing will provide a certificate of volunteerism for each reviewer who completes 20 or more reviews. The certificate will state the number of reviews completed and can be used to document service efforts with one’s employer.

What are the Review Volunteer Opportunities?

Award for AiC Logo

The Award for AiC honors 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, or non-binary students for their computing-related achievements and interests, and encourages them to pursue their passions.

  • Reviewing is not only rewarding, but also convenient. Volunteer application reviewers complete application reviews at their own pace, and spend an average of three hours reviewing. Review whenever you have a free moment—at lunch, after work, anytime.
  • Reviewing contributes towards required corporate volunteer hours. (Check with your company to see if being a volunteer application reviewer qualifies as required corporate volunteer hours.)

AiC Educator Award Logo

The AiC Educator Award identifies exemplary formal and informal educators who play a pivotal role in encouraging 9th-12th grade women, genderqueer, or non-binary students to explore their interest in computing and technology. And, the National AiC Educator Award publicly celebrates up to three outstanding educators whose work embodies the best of the AiC Educator Award.

NOTE: There is one joint application for the 2023 National and Regional Affiliate AiC Educator Awards. Applicants who qualify for the National AiC Educator Award, based on prior award recognitions, can elect to be considered upon their submission.

NCWIT Collegiate Award Logo

The NCWIT Collegiate Award honors the outstanding computing accomplishments of undergraduate and graduate women, genderqueer, or non-binary students. Conferred annually, the award recognizes technical contributions to projects that demonstrate a high level of innovation and potential impact.
